The Customs tab & Community templates

Browse and insert your team's saved Custom templates in the redesigned Customs tab, organize them by category and brand, and start from curated Figma Community files

The plugin's assets sidebar gives you two libraries of ready-made designs to start from: Customs β€” your own team's saved templates and components β€” and Community β€” a curated set of Email Love templates built in Figma's Community. This article covers the redesigned Customs tab and the Community grid.

For how to save a template into Customs in the first place, see Saving Customized Components & Templates Inside of the Plugin.

The Customs tab

Customs is where your workspace's own saved templates and branded components live. The tab shows them as a clean 3-column card grid so you can scan everything at a glance instead of scrolling sideways through rows.

Browsing and inserting

  • Use the category dropdown at the top to filter β€” "All Templates" shows everything, or pick a specific category to narrow down.
  • Hover a card and click Create to insert that template onto your canvas. The design is built into a fresh Email Love frame, ready to edit and export.
  • Each card shows a thumbnail preview; if a preview can't load, the card falls back gracefully so the grid stays usable.

Organizing with categories and brands

Customs are scoped per brand and grouped into categories you control:

  • Use the β€œ+” button to Add New Template or Create Category.
  • Remove a template with the Γ— on its card.
  • Empty categories stay in place until you explicitly delete them, so a category doesn't disappear just because you cleared it out. Use Delete Category to remove one for good.

Shared across your team

Customs are tied to your license, so everyone on the same license sees the same Customs library, aggregated across all members and organized per brand. When a teammate saves a template, it shows up for the whole workspace β€” no manual sharing or re-uploading.

Community templates

The Community tab is a browsable grid of curated, ready-to-use Email Love templates published in Figma's Community. It's a fast way to grab a professionally built starting point when you don't have a relevant Custom saved yet.

  • Templates are organized into category tabs (for example Retail, Tech, SaaS, Food, Travel).
  • Clicking a card opens the template's Figma Community file in a new tab, where you can duplicate it into your own Figma and start editing with the plugin. (Community templates open in Figma rather than importing directly into your current file.)
  • The Community catalog is curated by Email Love and refreshed over time, so new templates can appear without you needing to update the plugin.

Troubleshooting

A teammate's saved template isn't showing in my Customs: Customs are shared by license. Confirm you're both on the same license/workspace. Reopen the plugin to refresh the list.

A card's thumbnail is blank: The preview image failed to load; the template itself is fine β€” hover and Create to insert it, or reopen the tab to retry the thumbnail.

I deleted everything in a category but it's still there: That's intentional β€” empty categories persist so they're not lost by accident. Use Delete Category to remove it.

A Community template opened in a new tab instead of importing: That's expected. Community templates live in Figma Community β€” duplicate the file into your Figma, then build and export with the plugin.
