The Email Love Figma plugin lets you design emails in Figma and export them as production-ready HTML directly into your Sailthru template library. This guide walks you through the setup process.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:
  • An active Sailthru account with API access
  • Your Sailthru API Key and Shared Secret (found in your Sailthru account’s API settings; see Sailthru’s API basics guide)
  • The Email Love Figma plugin installed
  • At least one email designed in Figma using the plugin
1

Connect Your Sailthru Account

  1. Open Figma and select your email frame
  2. Launch the Email Love plugin and click the blue Export button
  3. From the dropdown menu, select Sailthru
  4. Paste your Sailthru API Key and Shared Secret
  5. Give this connection a name (helpful if you manage multiple accounts)
  6. Click Set API Key
Your credentials are stored securely and encrypted server-side, so you only need to do this once.
2

Export Your Email Template

  1. With your email frame selected, click the blue Export button
  2. Select Sailthru from the dropdown
  3. Click Export
  4. You’ll see a success message when the upload is finished
3

Access Your Template in Sailthru

Your exported email appears in Sailthru’s template library, ready to use in your campaigns. Open your Sailthru account and navigate to your templates to preview and send.

Updatable Templates

Sailthru identifies templates by name, and the plugin supports updating in place:
  • Toggle off (default): every export creates a new template with a date-suffixed name.
  • Toggle on: enable Updatable Templates in the export settings and re-exports overwrite the same template instead of creating duplicates. Great for iterating on a design without cluttering your template library.
See Updatable Templates for how this works across platforms.

Troubleshooting

Export fails with an authentication error: double-check both the API key and the shared secret. Sailthru requires the pair to sign every request, so a typo in either one will fail. Template doesn’t appear: confirm your API key has template permissions in Sailthru, then re-export. If you’re stuck, reach out to support@emaillove.com.
